Children’s Center (preschool)
Calvary Children’s Center is fully licensed childcare center offering part time and full time care for preschool aged children (age 2 – age 4). Each classroom maintains ratios as stated by childcare standards for the State of Illinois. The center also offers before school and after school care for school aged children (Jr. K - 8th grade), as well as part time and full time care during the summer.
Teachers use a variety of curriculum and planning strategies to work with each student to meet developmental and learning goals, as recommended for their age group.
Each class maintains a daily schedule, which includes a variety of activities including Bible time, free play, structured play, art, music, family-style lunch, rest time, and outside recess time.
Elementary and Junior High
Teachers use a variety of curriculums to ensure that students are meeting learning objectives. Curriculum from companies such as Abeka, Bob Jones University, Saxon and ACSI are used throughout the grade levels. In order to maintain a high standard of learning, it is our goal to search for curriculum and resources that will challenge our students, while ensuring students are able to meet and exceed Common Core standards.
The TerraNova Achievement test is administered annually. On average, students test 1.8 grade levels above national norms. As students advance in grade, the gain in grade level equivalent generally increases. Middle school grade level equivalents average over 1.9 grade levels above the national average.
In addition to academic offerings, students are able to participate in fine arts, such as art, choir and band. The school also offers competitive athletics for students in 5th– 8th grade. Athletic options include soccer, basketball, cheer and volleyball.
