Elementary Music, Art and Library
Elementary students perform two concerts during the school year. The Christmas concert is typically scheduled for the first Tuesday in December. Students deliver a powerful message through song and play about the reason we celebrate Christmas. This program is a must see and is a great way to get the family into the Christmas spirit and ready for the season, as we prepare our hearts to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus.
The second concert is scheduled toward the end of the school year in May. From CCS Sings America to Soul on Fire, students deliver a message of hope, love and joy.
In music, students will also be introduced to recorders and music theory.
Throughout the school year, students will be introduced to a variety of techniques, while studying artists from history. Student art is often displayed in the school hallways.
The school library is fully equipped with a growing section of fiction, nonfiction, easy reading, and reference volumes. Students in grades JRK - 5 visit the library once a week for a special story and to check-out books.
Beginning in 4th grade, students may elect to take band. Band for Today visits the school once a week to teach the band class. Concerts are held in December and May each year.
